Year 5 took the train to Shoebury to see the local art installation ‘Poppies: Wave’ by Artist Paul Cummins, designed by Tom Piper, on the Barge pier. It was a fabulous day to take in the local scenery and find out a little more about the ‘Gunner’s Park’ and the poppy installation itself where each poppy was set in memory of the life of a British and Colonial soldier lost during the First World War. Hollie, aged 10 ‘I couldn’t believe how many poppies there were in the ‘Wave’. Seeing it was ‘a really touching experience’ said Zorah, aged 10.
