Portico Dodgeball
On Monday 16th March, a combined year five and six dodge ball team gathered with other Portico schools for the annual dodge ball tournament. Expectations were high, training levels had peaked and anticipation clung to the air as the teams took to the field. Porters were up first, with their maiden outing against the excellent hosts – Hamstel. In a ding dong, back and forth battle, Porters gained the upper hand, blitzing through the opposition with some excellent throwing and catching leading to a fine opening victory. One win in the bank! Next, after a small break to debrief and discuss tactics, the team returned to the field against an impressive Friars team. Again, it was a back and forth war of attrition, catches galore and near misses, but once again Porters prevailed, making it an impressive two wins from two. The Porters team managed to stay grounded, as they knew a stern test was to come in the form of the imperious – and highly touted- West Leigh side. Stepping into the final game, Porters burst out of the blocks, never taking their foot off the gas and storming to one final victory. It was an excellent night of non-stop dodge ball action, with Porters taking an exceptional three wins from three. This was a fantastic team effort, with some very well deserved victories for the all-conquering Porters Grange!
