Man of ‘Principal!’
On Wednesday, 12th of July, Porters Grange Primary School and Nursery was taken over (briefly) by a new principal for the day. The new principal was none other than Navdeep Gajula – a year 6 pupil from Stingray class who is starting at Westcliff High School for Boys in September. Navdeep set about becoming principal for the day by launching an impressive campaign, making speeches during assemblies and delivering his vision to his peers. After an extensive voting process, Navdeep was pitted against two other exceptional candidates: Moosa Qadeer and Jessica White - for the final position.
Winning by a landslide, Navdeep won the support of other children thanks to his pledge to extend break and lunchtime – to help improve social and communication skills – as well as an exciting new lunch menu. During his tenure in charge, Navdeep led an online staff meeting, a whole school assembly, greeted parents at our infant sports day, completed a safety inspection of the school, oversaw lunchtimes and completed a learning walk in the afternoon to ensure the high standards of teaching and learning were being delivered. He completed his duties with pride, and was a wonderful role model for Porters Grange – and who knows, perhaps we have unearthed an amazing principal of the future!
