Porters Grange Primary School hosted an exciting and engaging World Book Day event on Thursday 6th March, bringing together pupils, families, and staff for a day filled with stories, imagination, and a shared love of reading. The event was a huge success, with families joining their children to take part in a variety of reading activities designed to inspire and encourage a lifelong love of books.

Families enjoyed fun-filled Book Bingo scavenger hunt in the school library. Children and their families eagerly explored the shelves, searching for clues and discovering new books along the way. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new genres and authors they might not have encountered before, all while enjoying a fun, interactive challenge.

In addition to the scavenger hunt, children had the chance to use their World Book Day tokens to pick out a brand-new book to take home provided by the amazing Jacqui from Jacqson Diego Story Emporium. The excitement was palpable as pupils chose their next great read, with many leaving the event with bright smiles and eagerly anticipating the stories they would soon be diving into.

The school hall was transformed into a cosy reading retreat, complete with blankets and a crackling log fire. Children were invited to relax and enjoy a quiet moment with their new books, creating a peaceful atmosphere that allowed everyone to unwind and get lost in their stories.

Throughout the day, classrooms were buzzing with activities that encouraged reading in all its forms. From story time sessions to book-related crafts and games, every corner of the school was alive with the joy of reading.

A massive thank you goes to our incredible staff, whose commitment and passion for reading and learning make events like this possible. Their dedication to nurturing a love of books in our children is truly appreciated, and we are grateful for all the time and effort you put into making World Book Day such a memorable occasion.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for the event. Your support and enthusiasm played a key role in making World Book Day so special. It was wonderful to see families working together to celebrate the joy of reading and to witness the positive impact it had on the children.

At Porters Grange Primary School, we believe in the power of reading to inspire, educate, and transport us to new worlds. Events like World Book Day are just one of the many ways we work together to build a lasting love of reading in our students. Thank you again to everyone who made this day a success – here’s to many more years of inspiring young readers!
