Year 3 enjoy a Christingle Service

Our Year 3 children had the wonderful opportunity to visit our local church for a Christingle service. The event, a highlight of the Christmas season, offered the children a chance to explore the traditions behind this beautiful holiday ritual.

The service began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the significance of the Christingle – a symbolic orange decorated with a candle, red ribbon, sweets, and a cocktail stick of fruits, representing the light of Christ in the world, God's love, and the four corners of the Earth.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the children took turns lighting their candles, filling the church with a warm, flickering glow. Once all the candles were lit the children and congregation sang Away in A Manger.

The visit was not only an educational experience but also an opportunity for the children to connect with the local community and understand more about the Christian traditions that form part of the festive season.
